Mlami Beach has a unique opportunity to become recognized as a significant world city which not only
values and preserves appropriate unique HISTORICAL architecture, but also one which actively seeks out
innovative, sustainable/green, functionally flexible, and architecturally significant NEW architecture. To
my way of thinking, having all of one or another, and having those positions be adversarial rather than
collaborative, is a recipe for divisiveness, and a real missed opportunity to do something spectacular
together in this city which we all love so much.
My background of living overseas, and in branding, gives me a unique take on this, I suspect, because we
neither want to be a museum, like some other cities, never welcoming progress; nor do we want to erase
that which built us in this unique corner of the world. The city of Miami Beach can be a leader in
progressive preservation AND in forward -thinking sustainable stunning architecture, and I believe
the Planning Board, has a major role in finding and recommending that balance on behalf of the greater
good of the City.
I have lived and owned homes here for 14+ years resident, in Mid Beach for 13, and in North Beach since
6/16. I bring to the table a historical perspective on balancing sustainable growth with judicious
preservation to enable great cities to evolve architecturally. This life experience has been gained from
living in London, Paris, NYC, Sao Paulo, Boston, among others. I have strong design proclivities running
through my blood, as a product of a family of art historians and modern architects, and was taught to
recognize great architecture from all eras, My professional background provides deep
business experience, and the comprehension of the need to balance design and function with financial and
timing/delivery implications. I am and have been the proud owner and partial restorer of well-built
original homes from 1850's, 1890's, 1924, and 1956.
As a board member, I can assure you that I will bring an open mind, deep research of the issues at hand,
