I am applying for an appointment for Transportation, Parking, Bicycle-Pedestrian facilities committee
Due to my past and current involvement with City of Miami Beach transportation team with South of
Fifth Projects with SOFNA Committee. I feel that this past and current knowledge of city projects will
help transportation committee.
Experience:
SOFNA Committee 2015- present
For the SOFNA Committee I have overseen managing the data and statuses for all our South of Fifth
(SOF) projects for 5 areas: Public Works, CIP, Transportation, Green Space and Code Compliance.
The two transportation contacts I work with are Josiel Ferrier and Milos Majstorovic along with our SOF
team. We identify concerns and problems related to pedestrian crosswalks, traffic lights, all traffic light
signage for all of our South of Fifth neighborhood. These concerns are sent to Transportation team to
address. Gave them idea two years ago to place on spreadsheet for tracking and follow up purposes.
Following up monthly on current Transportation SOF projects:
1. Pedestrian Priority Zone Study-pending study completion:
a. 3rd and Ocean Drive -follow up to see if All-Way Stop Control (AWSC) can be installed
2. Pending Miami Dade County approval of installation of a “No Turn on Red” sign on the
southbound approach at the intersection of SR A1A/5th Street at Washington Avenue,
3. 4th Street and Alton Road- replacement of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon with Traffic Signal
at intersection-
4. 4th Street and Alton Road- Repairs to damaged Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon
5. Southpoint Drive and Alton Road- crosswalk alternatives.
6. Worked with Rebecca Towers seniors and helped define solution of trolley stop at 6th and
Lennox avenue.
7. Working with transportation to get feedback on South Beach Trolley- Rebecca Towers Seniors.
