Miami Beach Committee Member Application

My goal as a Committee Member
I have lived in Miami Beach for three years, on West Ave. I plan to live here the rest of my life.
I want to work to insure that the residents get the best value for their tax dollars. The city uses the
money efficiently and add value to the community.
I know this is a tourist resort, but we can not let the tourist violate our laws, abuse our assets, and
consume our resources. I don’t want my tax dollars to be used to promote tourism. I want a safe
community and best education for our kids. I want them to be able to walk the streets and be safe. I
want policemen on the street to enforce the laws. I walk six miles everyday for health, I see so much
waste and law violations. People race up and down Alton Road everyday and in three years I have never
seen an arrest. People run red lights, never seen an arrest. I have been almost run over in the cross
walks, walking with the light, and people ignore the rules and almost run me over. I’ve seen people
“park” on 5th Street, leave their lights flashing and go into the bank to do business, while traffic piles up.
We have no law and order on the streets. And, why do we place police at construction sites, they are
always asleep with the car running. Pure waste of money and assets. We allow bikes in the park. I walk
the park every day. I seen many people walk hit by bikes, bike peddles hitting them in the legs. They go
down! On a Sunday afternoon, there were three young men racing their bikes through the park on the
walk path, one zigzagged a walker and ran directly into me knocking be back three feet and bouncing me
off the ground. This is crazy. The city seems to do everything they can to raise money, vs protecting the
residents.
I see waste every day. Two guys driving a cart down the walk way at the park, one guy drives the cart
and loads the trash, the other guy plays with his cell phone. The city has to many employees. We could
reduce the employment staff my 30% and get more work done. Employees know when there are to
many employees and not enough work. They can kill four hours and make it look like they were working
hard. In the auto industry we use work routing, each routing is defined and an engineer flow charts the
work and time line. You would be amazed at the productive improvements and cost savings. Also, why
do we do maintenance in the park during the day shift? They drive the trucks down the walk path and
make all the residents walk around. Why not do all the maintenance at the park between 10 PM and 6
AM. That way no one is disturbed and the park is ready to go in the morning. Simple things make a
huge difference. Let put the employees to work and cops back on the streets.
I’m here to help!
