Diana Nyad Key West Statue Project I am Chair of the Diana Nyad project which is responsible for selecMng the sculptor and overseeing the construcMon of a monument to commemorate Diana Nyad’s historic swim from Cuba to Key West in 2013. I was instrumental in the placing of a brass plaque at her exit point at Smathers Beach. Amelia Earhart Na3onal Statuary Hall Commi%ee I am the Co-Chair of the Amelia Earhart NaMonal Statuary Hall CommiAee which was charged with securing authorizaMon from the State of Kansas for the placement of a statue of Amelia Earhart in NaMonal Statuary Hall in Washington DC. The CommiAee was also charged with selecMng the sculptor and overseeing the creaMon of a ten foot bronze statue honoring Ms. Earhart. The statue of Earhart which was designed by George and Mark Lundeen is ready for installaMon and will replace the statue of Senator John James Ingalls. Equal Visibility Everywhere (EVE) I am the Founder and President of Equal Visibility Everywhere (EVE), a not-for-profit which focuses on researching and reporMng the underrepresentaMon of women on our naMon’s symbols and icons: currency, stamps, statues, monuments and memorials, street names, naMonal holidays and parade balloons. My research has brought naMonal aAenMon to the fact that only nine of the one hundred statues in NaMonal Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol honor women. My work has been highlighted on radio, television, as well as electronic and print media worldwide. Recently I appeared on CBS Sunday Morning to discuss the dearth of statues honoring women. I very recently appeared on NBC to highlight the lack of female character balloons in the 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I coined the tern “latchkey children” and my research efforts on behalf latchkey children has been featured in hundreds of newspapers and magazines as well as on more than two hundred radio and television programs.
