As an architect, my work focuses on acknowledging place and the immediate environmental, social, and
ecological contexts. In Southern Florida and Miami Dade County-we set standards for global practices. We must
build as a method to test acceptable, resilient and affordable forms of building-and we must build as a way to
progress and develop our city. I would be honored to serve on the design review board helping to shape the
future and longevity of community, and building a resilient, responsible and enjoyable Miami Beach as a primary
initiative.

The area of focus for my teaching is in building systems, tectonics and material properties and
innovative design applications. Studios, seminars and workshops conducted to date have been
rooted in both the undergraduate and graduate core architectural curriculum at the School of Architecture.
Additionally I have taught a series of upper level design studios developed to specifically engage the
research conducted in the LU_Lab.
