And like many children, I started playing on my town recreation team at the age of ten years old. Before entering high school I realized that my school did not have a girls team, just boys. With the help of my parents, I petitioned the Board of Education to create a girls high school junior varsity and varsity team, they agreed , and I began playing soccer on the varsity team since freshman year. I played Girls varsity soccer four years at Ramapo High School, Franklin Lakes , NJ , 1978-1981. My team was New Jersey State Champions 1981. I was chosen by my coach Team Most Valuable Player of the Year, 1981. My senior year of high school I earned honors, All-League First Team Girl’s Soccer. I have a love affair with soccer. I am a soccer fan and watch most of the major tournaments, men and women. I already have my ticket for the Women’s soccer match at the Paris Olympics this summer. If I am appointed a member of the Park & Recreation board I will put emphasis on our city participating in the major tournaments with events for youth players, residents, visitors, and businesses; especially the Men’s COPA Cup finals which takes place in Miami July 14, 2024. The COPA is the Americas version of the Euro CUP. It is the top men's football tournament contested among national teams from South America, Central America, and North America. Other tournaments that could hold events in Miami Beach include: Euro Cup 2024 Germany (June 14 to July 14), Women’s Euro Cup 2025 Switzerland (July 2 to July 27), Women’s World Cup 2027 (June 1). The Women’s World Cup 2027 has not chosen a host country yet, but it could be the United States! I would be honored if you chose me to represent soccer interests in the City of Miami Beach.
