I am really focusing on the Disability Access Committee. I have volunteered with Shake-A-Leg Miami as a sailing
instructor and ambassador for 30 years. The origin of Shake-A-Leg was to provide sailboats, modified to
accommodate individuals with spinal injuries, to access Biscayne Bay and to allow these individuals be able to
sail the boats themselves. The program has evolved into the water sports program for the City of Miami and now
serves individuals with a range of disabilities.
I have referred disabled visitors to Ocean Rescue for beach access and I believe with a bit of focus that the chair
program and user experience can be improved and I want to help the Disability Access Committee
