A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION
TO IMPLEMENT THE DECORATIVE LIGHTING ON WEST SIDE OF
OCEAN DRIVE PLAN, UTILIZING THE ALLOCATED ONE-TIME
FUNDING OF $428,000 AS PROVIDED IN THE FY 2025 BUDGET.
WHEREAS, Ocean Drive is one of Miami Beach's most iconic streets, renowned
worldwide for its historic architecture, vibrant nightlife, and role as a central gathering
place for both residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, at the September 16, 2024, first FY 2025 Budget Hearing, Vice-Mayor
Alex J. Fernandez highlighted the ongoing need for improved lighting on the west side of
Ocean Drive, and requested improvements to it to be included in the budget; and
WHEREAS, in response to this concern, the Mayor and City Commission
approved the FY 2025 budget on September 25, 2024, which allocated a one-time
funding amount of$428,000 specifically for decorative lighting improvements on the west
side of Ocean Drive; and
WHEREAS,the addition of decorative lighting on Ocean Drive will not only improve
visibility and public safety but will also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area,
reinforcing Miami Beach's reputation as a premier destination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the Administration to implement the Decorative Lighting on
West Side of Ocean Drive Plan, utilizing the allocated one-time funding of $428,000 as
provided in the FY 2025 budget.
