Chair and Vice-Chair Nominations Nomination of Chair by Lori Bakkum: Darren Cefalu Nomination of Vice Chair by Darren Cefalu: Charlotte Tomic Action: Darren Cefalu elected Chair; Charlotte Tomic elected Vice Chair. Unanimous votes. IV. COVID-19 Update Janay Guerrero, Homeless Program Coordinator The following updates were provided: • Shelters still have their respective COVID-19 restrictions in place • Reports have been status quo; no major outbreaks reported V. Lazarus Project Update Janay Guerrero, Homeless Program Coordinator The following updates were provided: • Lazarus Project began services on Miami Beach in December 2022; however, the Case Manager has resigned from Camillus and the services are halted until a new Case Manager is secured. VI. Miami Beach Police Dept. presentation, 10 min Sgt. Jerome Berrian, MBPD The following updates were provided: • There has been an influx of homeless sheltering in the Dunes. Police will be reimplementing drone details for better visualization. • Police have been conducting Quality of Life Enforcement Details to offer services and enforce laws. • Homeless Resource Officer, Ysidro Llamoca, is being promoted to Sergeant and is no longer a member of the Homeless Resource Unit. MBPD will hire another Officer to fill the position. VII. Homeless Outreach presentation, 10 min Janay Guerrero, Homeless Program Coordinator, Housing & Community Services The following updates were provided: Committee on the Homeless January 10, 2023 Virtual: Zoom meeting location emailed/posted 4:30pm • The Homeless Outreach Services Team has concluded the Unwrap Your Journey holiday program. Approximately 50 gift bags were distributed containing t-shirts, toiletries, and brochures with information on services offered by the Homeless Outreach Services Team. • For Fiscal Year 2023, the Homeless Outreach Services Team has facilitated 226 shelter placements, and 115 relocations. Follow-Up Items: • Art Mural: Dr. Narson has contacted the Commissioner’s Office about the proposed location of the mural and is awaiting a response. VIII. Public Right to be Heard, 5 min IX.
