Positive ccyerage in the ~...fiami Hercld and other media enhanced the image of Miami Beach as a tropical wonderland and ideal year round tourist destination. The joint effort of the Miami Beach Conservatory Volunteers, City of Miami Beach Parks & Recreation Department and the Redland Professional Orchid Growers Association was uniquely effective. The valuable bonds between civic-minded individuals, the city and the business community have long lasting benefits. With an object to continue building on this liaison, a second orchid show (slightly larger) is being planned for the weekend of December 4 and 5th 1999. With the collective experience acquired by all in staging the First Orchid Show, it is hoped that the second will be even more successful and take its place as a premier event both the holiday and tourist season. The assistance of the Parks and Recreation department and Mr. John Oldenburg's tireless efforts were invaluable to the first show's success. We hope that we can count on continued city sponsorship and the same wonderful co-operation on this next show as well. Please let me know of any suggestions that could increase the Miami Beach Orchid Show's success in promoting the best possible tropical image of the city. ~~ Martin Motes Treasurer P.O. Box 924243.
