PETER MATTHEWS SECRETARY TERRI HARRIS A TIll.ETIC DIRECTOR CHARLIE NEWTON October 11, 1999 To all Miami Beach City Hall Personnel: The Miami Beach Police Athletic League is once again providing Thanksgiving baskets to 400 families in need. We work together with the schools on Miami Beach, collecting non-perishable items and canned goods to help fill the baskets. We have always included fresh produce (onions, celery, potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, apples, oranges) and whatever fresh items we are able to purchase at reasonable prices. In addition, we provide bread, rice, cranberry sauce, an 8-10 pound turkey and anything in the way of cakes or sweets. The cost for this annual event is approximately $6,000 ($15 per basket). We are asking our friends in the community to help sponsor this worthwhile project. Can we count on your help to allow us to feed these 400 families in need? All canned food and cash donations will be greatly appreciated. Delivery of food baskets will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Nautilus Middle School, 4301 N. Michigan Avenue. If you would like to volunteer, you are more than welcomed to meet us there. If you need more information, please call me at (305) 673-7776 ext. 5305. Thank you in a nce for your help. o . er Bernie Winer Executive Director BW lief "Filling Playgrounds Not Prisons - Success Through Education"
