Miami Beach, Fl Sep 02, 2004 The City of Miami Beach is currently under a hurricane warning.
Mandatory evacuations will begin at 4:00 p.m. TODAY Click here for evacuation procedures and
bus pick-up sites to Red Cross shelters. Residents must take with them identification. Evacuation
tranportation will be continuous throughout the night and will cease two- hours before tropical
storm winds reach the coast.
Five general population shelters will open at 4:00 p.m.:
North Miami Beach Senior High School, 1247 NE 167th Street, North Miami
Booker T Washington, 1200 NW 6th Avenue, Miami
South Miami High School, 6856 SW 53rd Street, Miami
Robert Morgan, 18180 SW 122nd Avenue, Miami
Charles Drew Middle, 1801 NW 60th Street, Miami
City of Miami Beach government offices and facilities will close at 1 :00 p.m. today (Thursday).
Beaches, effective 12 noon today, are unguarded; lifeguard stations from all of the City's
beaches have been removed. Beach patrons swim at their own risk.
No garbage pick-up service effective immediately.
All parking garages are open for residential parking free of charge in the upper floors; lower
floors are reserved for City vehicles.
Businesses,construction sites, and sidewalk cafes have been advised to bring in outdoor loose
objects/structures and secure their sites.
Emergency response calls will cease once tropical storm force winds reach the City.
Public is urged to listen to local news for any further advisories.
