Gunia Nick Gtuua was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Dartmouth College (home of the Big Green!), where he received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Nick earned his Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was on the University of Miami Law Review. He began his career at the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City, where his practice areas included mergers and acquisitions, banking and investment management. At Davis Polk, Nick advised Fortune 500 clients, including JPMorgan Chase & Co., AT&T and Johnson Controls, as well as private equity fluids and investment advisers. Since June of 2003, Nick has been Vice President and General Counsel of K.G. International, Inc., a leading Miami-based marketing and distribution firm with over 25 years of experience in packaging, chemicals and raw materials. K.G. International serves a range of clients throughout the Americas, including several multinationals, such as Colgate-Palmolive, Unilever, Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Nick is also the Co-founder and Executive Director of Dream in Green, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which is focused on promoting environmental sustainability in South Florida, including energy and water conservation, green building and renewable energy. Dream in Green's projects include the Green Schools Challenge, a unique program for educating K 12 students about environmental and energy challenges by getting them directly involved in solutions to those challenges. The Challenge is supported by the City of Miami and the Miami-Dade County Public School Board, which unanimously approved the program for expansion in the nation's 4th largest public school district. Dream in Green is a member of the Green Commission for the City of Miami, a citizen's panel that was formed by City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz for the purpose of promoting energy and water conservation and efficiency, green building and renewable energy. Nick was a 2005 graduate of the Leaderslvp Miami program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. He was also recently a panelist at a green building conference organized by Florida International University's Institute for Technology Innovation and sponsored by the Canadian Government. In his spare time, Nick enjoys painting, collecting contemporary Chinese art and going to the beach.
