April 18, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., in the Commission Chambers, 3rd
Floor, City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach,
Florida, to consider a waiver of certain provisions of the
development regulations applicable to the CCC-Zoned District,
which is required to conform to RM:2 and CD-3 Districts, for the
District, which is required to conform to RM-2, and CD-3 Districts,
for the installation of nine (9) proposed signs around the Miami
Beach Convention Center, as follows: one main identity pylon at
the corner of 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, six (6)
electronic message boards under the canopies and two (2) small
pylon signs near the entrance to Hails "C" and "D", as follows: for
the main identity pylon, to increase the maximum permissible
graphic area for a sign by 38.6 square feet, from the current
maximum of 15 square feet, to 53.6 square feet per side to
reduce the minimum required front and side setback by 7'-0",
from 10'-0", to 3'-0" from the property line; for six (6) electronic
message boards, to increase the maximum permissible graphic
area for a sign by 16 square feet, from the current maximum of 15
square feet, to 31 square feet per sign; for all nine (9) signs which
include electronic message boards containing light emitting
diodes, waive the prohibition on the use of intermittent or flashing
lights; further, waive the limitation of one sign per street frontage
to permit six (6) signs along Convention Center Drive, two (2) signs
on Washington Avenue, and the main identity pylon on the corner
of 17th Street and Convention Center Drive.
