DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM NO. 6'1-1995
TO: All Department Directors DATE: December 19, 1995
SUBJECT: Points of Light Foundation/1996 President's Service Awards
Attached is information received by Mayor Seymour Gelber relative to the above-
referenced awards program. The program honors the efforts of exceptional individuals,
families, groups, organizations, businesses and labor unions who have engaged in
voluntary community service to address the unmet human, educational, environmental and
public safety needs.
We have numerous employees who volunteer their services to various programs;
therefore, there may be some City employees who are eligible for nomination under this
awards program. Please note the award recipients will receive their award at the White
House in Washington, D.C., during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27, 1996.
If you are aware of any City employee(s) who might meet the criteria, complete the
application and submit it to this office to the attention of Dean R. Mielke, Assistant
City Manager/Labor Relations, by January 1, 1996. The deadline for us to submit our
nominations to the Points of Light Foundation is January 12, 1996.
