SUBJECT: POLICEATHLETIC LEAGUE (PAL)/THANKSGIVING FOOD
DRIVE FOR THE NEEDY
The Thanksgiving holidays are only a few weeks away. This is the time of year when we
realize how fortunate we are, and also we are reminded of the many individuals who
might possibly share a "Thanksgiving Dinner" with their families only as a result of our
kindness and generosity.
The Police Athletic League is already hard at work on its annual food drive in order to
meet their goal of providing more than 400 families with a "Thanksgiving Basket'. To that
end, Officer Bemie Winer of the Police Athletic League has placed some boxes
throughout City Hall for our non-perishable food items donations forthis food drive. Ifyou
should have any questions regarding donations, you may call Bernie, Selma, or Billy at
the PAL's office at 531-5636.
Lets all make an extra effort this year to keep the PAL's staff busy collecting the
"overflowing" food donations from the boxes in City Hall. Just think, if we each'
contributed only one food item, there would be at least 1,300 items in our donation boxes.
NOTE: If you so desire, the PAL will also be accepting monetary donations--just give
them a call and they will provide the details.
Please ensure that this memo is posted and/or distributed throughout your
department/divisons so that all City employees are aware of the PAL's food drive.
