2001-24465 RESO RESOLUTION NUMBER 2001-24465 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND REIMBURSABLES FOR THE FIRMS OF SPILLIS CANDELA & PARTNERS/ARATA ISOZAKI & ASSOCIATES, IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,855.16, AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,855.16, FROM UNDESIGNA TED GENERAL FUND BALANCE, TO PAY FOR THE ABOVE STATED ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND REIMBURSABLES, FOR THE EXPANSION AND RENOVATION OF THE BASS MUSEUM OF ART WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission approved and Agreement with the firms of SpilJis Candela & Partners and Arata Isozaki & Associates (SCP/ AI), for architectural and engineering services for the Expansion and Renovation of the Bass Museum of Art (the Project), on the March 26, 1995; and WHEREAS,due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction period has been extended beyond the original twenty (20) months; and WHEREAS, additional funds, in the amount of $51,855.16, are required for extended consulting and construction administration services, due to the project delays, for SCP/ AI; and WHEREAS,additional funding in the amount of $51,855.16, is thus required beyond the original $8,000,000 project budget in order to cover the above described additional services and such additional funding available from the Undesignated General Fund Balance. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission herein approve additional services and reimbursables for the firms of Spillis Candela & Partners/Arata Isozaki & Associates, in the amount of $51,855.16, and appropriate additional funding in the amount of $51,855.16, from the Undesignated General Fund Balance, to pay for the above stated additional services and reimbursables, for the Expansion and Renovation of the Bass Museum of Art. FUNDING: $51,855.16 Undesignated General Fund Balance. ANALYSIS: On March 26, 1995, the City entered into an agreement with the firms of Spillis Candela & Partners (SC &P) and Arata Isozaki and Associates (Isozaki) for architectural and engineering services for the Expansion and Renovation of the Bass Museum of Art (the Project). On December 3, 1997, the Mayor and City Commission approved award of a construction contract to Danville-Findorff, Inc. (DFI). Notice to Proceed with construction of the project was given on February 5, 1998 with construction expected to last twenty months. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction period has been extended beyond the original twenty (20) months. The renovation of the existing building also experienced numerous unforeseen conditions which necessitated correction and which have added costs to the project. AGENDA ITEM c75 6-~-cJ/ DATE Commission Memorandum June 6, 2001 Bass Museum of Art Additional Funding Page 2 The Administration is requesting that the Mayor and City Commission approve the appropriation of additional funds required for the closeout of the construction project. These funds will be used for extended consulting and construction administration services, due to the project delays, in the amount of $51,855.16, for the firms of Spillis Candela & Partners/Arata Isozaki & Associates (SCP/ AI). The additional services requested by SCP/AI have been reduced by $29,083.85 which is the amount of costs identified errors and omissions on the construction documents.
