Subject: OUTSTANDING LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This Letter to the Commission is to advise that Detective Luis King of our Police
Department has been awarded the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
Award from the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida.
Detective King is the second Miami Beach Police Officer this year to be so honored. He
joins Sergeant Peter Smolyanski who was honored last month for his work with the United
States Attorney's Office.
Detective Luis King is being recognized for his work in Operation Ramp Rats. Operation
Ramp Rats was a major undercover narcotics investigation at Miami International Airport.
Please join me in congratulating Detective King for his dedication and this outstanding
achievement.
