96-22103 RESO RESOLUTION No. 96-22103 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE BUDGET AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE POLICE TRAINING TRUST FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996/97. WHEREAS, Section 943.25(9), Florida Statutes, entitled "Criminal Justice Trust Fund", provides for funds to be made available to the law enforcement agency for the implementation of training programs; and WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $30,000.00 are currently available in the Criminal Justice Training Trust Fund, said funds derived from court costs from criminal proceedings. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the budget for the Police Training Trust Fund for fiscal year 1996/97 to appropriate $30,000.00 to provide funds for the education of police personnel at various schools, conferences, and workshops and for the purchase of training/operational supplies in accordance with guidelines established by the Division of Criminal Justice standards and Training, as provided by Florida statute 943.25(9); the source of such funds being court costs from criminal proceedings. BACKGROUND Florida statute section 943.25(9), Criminal Justice Trust Fund, provides for funds to be made available to the law enforcement agency for the implementation of training programs. ANALYSIS In accordance with Florida statute Section 943.25(9), Criminal Justice Trust Fund, such funds are currently available amounting to $30,000.00, such funds being court costs from criminal proceedings. CONCLUSION The Administration recommends that the Mayor and city commission adopt the budget for FY 96/97 for the Police Training Trust Fund and appropriate funding.
