RESOLUTION NO, 2001-24485
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A K-9 DOG,
VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $6,500.00, FROM BERNARD KLEPACH, FOR
USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT,
WHEREAS, Sergeant Douglas Reid and his K-9 partner "Ice" are both retiring, after
serving the City for 30 years and 12 years respectively; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bernard Klepach has generously offered to replace "Ice" with a new K-9,
"Moe"; who has an estimated value of$6,500.00 ; and
WHEREAS, "Moe" will be trained and assigned to the new K-9 supervisor.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission herein accept the donation of a K-9 dog, valued at approximately $6,500.00, from
Bernard Klepach, for use by the Miami Beach Poli~ Department.

KLEP ACH, FOR USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
Mr. Bernard Klepach has generously agreed to provide the Police Department with a new K-9 police
work dog. Mr. Klepach is a long time Miami Beach resident and wanted to show his appreciation
to the Police Department by donating anew K-9 police dog, with an approximate value of$6,500.00.
Sgt. Douglas Reid, the K-9 Supervisor and his K-9 partner "Ice" are retiring in September 2001. Sgt
Reid has served the City for over 30 years and "Ice" over 12 years. We wish them well and hope
they have many more years together.
Mr. Klepach will be donating a new K-9 whose name is "Moe". "Moe" is a 17 month old German
Shepard and will attend K-9 school with his new partner in August. We know he will have a long
and healthy career with the Police Department.
The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the Resolution and
accept Mr. Klepach's kind and generous donation of "Moe" to the citizens of our City.
