Gonzalez ~ . ~ City Manager O,/" D VERBAL REPORT OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE MEETING OF JULY 17, 2001 To: Subject: A meeting of the Neighborhoods Committee was held on July 17, 2001 at 4:00 PM in the City Manager's Large Conference Room. Commissioners in attendance included Jose Smith. Matti Herrera Bower and Luis R. Garcia, Jr. City staff in attendance were: Assistant City Manager Robert C. Middaugh, Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Smith, Assistant to the Director of Neighborhood Services Max Sklar, and Children's Affairs Division Director Maria Ruiz. Others in attendance: Jodie Knofsky. Item 1 Discussion reaardina the creation of a Parks and Recreation Proarams and Facilities Blue Ribbon Citizens' Committee. Action Assistant City Manager Robert C. Middaugh introduced the item and summarized the purpose and scope of work of the Blue Ribbon Citizens' Committee. The Committee requested that the Administration ensure that members of the Blue Ribbon Citizens' Committee are representative of each geographic area of the City, as well as the diverse community. The Committee further directed the Administration to prepare and circulate the potential list of members for comment and approval from the City Commission. The Committee recommended proceeding with the creation of the Parks and Recreation Programs and Facilities Blue Ribbon Citizens' Committee as proposed. Item 2 Status report regardinlJ the lower north bay road/sunset islands/alton road "no left turn" sian and 20th street improvements. Action The Committee recommended notifying the Neighborhood Associations and residents that the County's Traffic Safety Improvement Contract will be available by late August of this year and that the improvements for the Alton Road and 20'h Street intersection will be assigned the first work order under this contract. The Committee requested that a status report be provided to the City Commission at the firs~t com~::;'~ meeting in September.
