2009-27015 ResoRESOLUTION NO. 2009-27015 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A 1955 DODGE VEHICLE, MARKED WITH MIAMI BEACH POLICE LETTERING, FROM MR. ADAM ROSE, TO BE UTILIZED BY THE CITY FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES AT PARADES, RALLIES, AND OTHER CULTURAL AND CIVIC EVENTS. WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Police Department is a strong proponent of community oriented policing, which involves participating in many community oriented and cultural and civic events that feature parades, rallies and or displays at schools; and WHEREAS, these events sometimes Department's specialized entities such a Tactics Team, Motorcycle Squad; and include participation by Miami Beach Police the Honor Guard, Special Weapons and WHEREAS, these type of events bring the Miami Beach Police Department closer to the community, especially the children of our residents and visitors, facilitating a very positive and friendly image which has far reaching benefits; and WHEREAS, the utilization of this unique vintage 1955 Dodge automobile, marked and outfitted as an actual replica of 1950's era Miami Beach Police vehicle, will be utilized by the City in these worthwhile events, and would invite participation, create curiosity and wonder that would facilitate rapport with the community; WHEREAS, Mr. Adam Rose has agreed to donate a 1955 Dodge vehicle to the City for display purposed at parades, rallies, and other cultural events; and WHEREAS, this vehicle (valued at $25,000) will be completely refurbished by Mr. Rose at no cost to the City, with a new engine, transmission, exterior paint and interior. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, accept the donation of a 1955 Dodge vehicle, marked with Miami Beach Police lettering, from Mr. Adam Rose, to be utilized by the City for display purposes at parades, rallies, and other cultural and civic events. In addition, he has an interest in law enforcement and is a donor to the Police Officer Assistance Trust, Fund and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum. Mr. Rose wishes to graciously donate a vintage fully functional 1955 dodge vehicle marked and outfitted as an actual replica of the 1950's era Miami Beach Police vehicle. This automobile valued at $25,000 is completely refurbished with a new engine, transmission, exterior paint and interior requiring very little maintenance and subsequent costs. This vehicle will be driven by Miami Beach Police Department personnel for participation in parades, rallies, as well as displays at cultural and civic events in the City of Miami Beach. These types of events bring the Miami Beach Police Department closer to the community, especially children of our residents and visitors facilitating a very positive friendly image which has far reaching benefits.
