As you know, I have consolidated the City's grants functions into one central process to ~m t~
Grants Management Office. The mission of the Office is to maximize City funds by actively ~l~ekFf~
funding opportunities for which the City is eligible.
The goals and objectives of the Grants Management Office are as follows:
Leverage City Funds
The primary goal of this Office is to leverage City funds with private, county, state and
federal opportunities to fulfill the community's expectations with regards to City
programming and projects.
Centralize the Grant Writing Process
The Office will provide a centralized grant writing process to ensure effective coordination of
the grant funding process, while providing professional and technical resources to City
departments as needed when preparing a grant proposal. Additionally, the Office will
provide grants wdting and/or technical assistance to departments, as needed and identify
and garner federal, state, regional, city sources and private foundation sources of support
to augment General Fund operating expenditures.
Create a Centralized Database
The Office will maintain a central database, where City departments and community
organizations can research grant funding opportunities. Members of the Grants
Management Staff will research available funding opportunities throughout the U.S. and
update the database periodically. Additionally, a grants tracking system will be created to
ensure the proper handling of grants to maximize the City's resources.
Judy Hoanshelt, Grants Manager and Alexander Diaz Grants Walter/Researcher will staff the
Grants Management Office. An additional Grants Writer/Researcher will be hired for the Office.
Assistant City Manager, Mayra Diaz Buttacavoli will oversee the functions of this Office.
