Commissioner Bower's term as Vice-Mayor Date: October 2, 2001 Pursuant to City Resolution No. 2001-24471, Commissioner Bower's term as vice-mayor began on July 1, 2001 and terminates on October 31, 2001, or until such date when a new vice-mayor is thereafter elected. Pursuant to City Charter Section 2.04, the City Commission shall, at its first meeting after each general election, which shall be within three (3) days after the general election (or within thirty (30) days after the run-off election, if a run-off election is held) elect from its membership a vice-mayor who during the absence or disability of the Mayor, shall perform the duties of Mayor. Commissioner Smith is next in the vice-mayor rotation. Since Commissioner Smith is a candidate in the November election, he has agreed to hold off his appointment until after the election, when the newly elected officials are sworn in (Mayor, Group I, Group II, Group Ill). The Administration is recommending that Vice-Mayor Bower continue as vice-mayor until either November 6t" or if a run-off election is necessary, until November 13th when a resolution will be placed on the Agenda electing a new vice-mayor.
