A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY APPROVING AND
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR ($400)
CASH DONATION MADE TO THE CITY FOR "CELEBRATE WOMEN'S
EQUALITY DAY 2009," A FREE ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENT; AND
FURTHER RETROACTIVELY APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF THE
DONATION FOR THE EVENT.
WHEREAS, On August 26, 2009, the City held the first Celebrate Women's Equality
Day, a free celebration honoring the anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment, and
presented by Mayor Matti Herrera Bower and Commissioner Deede Weithorn and
WHEREAS, the event included an artifact creation craft class for children and a film
presentation, all presented without admission charge; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of Celebrate Women's Equality Day 2009 the following
entities have made donations to the City, in the total amount of $400 and were recognized as
sponsors of the event:
o Miami Beach Commission for Women;
o WomensExhibit;
o Marie's Beach; and
o Dogbar; and
WHEREAS, as the event was already held while the City Commission was in recess, it
is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission retroactively approve and accept said
donations as well as retroactively approve the appropriation of said funds.
WHEREAS, it is further recommended that the Mayor and City Commission hereby
authorize the City Manager or his designee to make any necessary reimbursements and/or
expenditures of the aforestated donations in furtherance of and consistent with the aforestated
event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby retroactively approve and authorize the acceptance of a four hundred dollar
cash donation made to the City for Celebrate Women's Equality Day 2009; and further
retroactively approve the appropriation of the donation for the event.
