SUBJECT: PAINT THE BOARDWALK VOLUNTEER EVENT/NORTH SHORE OPEN
SPACE PARK ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you that the City of Miami Beach Community Resource
and Outreach Team has developed and is promoting 'Hands on Miami Beach Day" on
Saturday, November 7, 2009.
The Communiiy Resource and Outreach Team supports and promotes volunteerism
throughout the City of Miami Beach. Staff is partnering with Hands on Miami inc. (HOM) to
provide a day of volunteering on Miami Beach. This year we will be painting the Boardwalk
and weeding and mulching North Shore open Space Park.
HOM has been partnering with schools, local government, social service and environmental
groups since 1993. We partner with the agency for our monthly'Adopt-a-Park" program in
North Shore Open Space Park, which has been operating successfully for over five years.
Paint the Boardwalk:
The Community Resource and Outreach team will work closely with the City's Property
Management Division and volunteers to paint the boardwalk from 46`" street South. The
project begins at 9:00 a.m. on site at Collins Avenue and 35th street and will end at 12:00
p.m. Volunteers sign up to be part of the event through www handsonmiami.org.
North Shore Open Space Park:
Volunteers will arrive at 9:00 a.m. in the park and work until 12:00 p.m. weeding and
mulching in designated areas.
