The detour established for this closure will direct motorists on Alton Road to the 1-395/MacArthur Causeway, then west to Biscayne Boulevard, and then north to the Julia Tuttle Causeway where they will be able to access westbound lanes west of I-95. Emergency vehicles will be allowed access on the Julia Tuttle Causeway westbound lanes during the closure. FDOT has coordinated this closure and detour with the FDOT project managers for both the MacArthur Causeway Roadway Enhancement Project and the I-95 Express Project. The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan, which takes into account the scheduled detours, will include the utilization of electronic message boards that will notify the public about the detour. City staff will continue to coordinate the MOT with FDOT to ensure minimal impact to traffic in Miami Beach and to ensure the public is kept thoroughly informed. A traffic advisory on the upcoming closure has also been placed on the City's website.
