Marvin sih+crman The Transportation & Parking Committee met on February 1, 2010, and
scatt Timn, held a discussion with Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) regarding options of route
Seth Wasserman extensions to the South Beach Local for Belle Isle, Collins Park and Alton & 5'"
Street; handout with options/maps provided by MDT is attached for reference
As a result of this discussion, the members of the Transportation & Parking
Committee unanimously passed the following motions:
Belle Isk Seement
The Transportation and Parking Committee recommends implementation of
Option 2 which would provide direct service from Belle Isle to Collins Park,
providing stop to Social Security Office and Walgreens with the understanding
that headways should not exceed an additional thirty (30) seconds; to be
examined in eight (g) months from route change to see if it is successful.
Alton & 5`" St
The Transportation and Parking Committee supports adopting Option 1 which
would serve Publix From Alton Road, with the understanding that a stop must be
inserted where one previously existed between 9'n & 10`" Street on West
Avenue or a new stop to be inserted on 9'" Street and West Avenue, to
compensate for loss of stop on g'h Street and West Avenue; with understanding
that there will be no change in headways.
Collirts Park SeRrrtent
The Transportation and Parking Committee recommends Option as modified:
Eliminate service on 22ntl Street, replace on 23r° Street with addition of bus stop
on Uberty and 23'° and Collins and 21"; with understanding this will
have an Impact of an additional thirty (30) seconds to the headway.
As an Advisory Committee, we sincerely ask tftat consideration be given to the
above motions.
