Gonzalez, City Manag r DATE: April 7, 2010 SUBJECT: CityVision #33 Now Airing on MBTV 77 As part of Miami Beach's ongoing efforts to provide enhanced information about the City to the community, we are now airing the latest edition of "CityVision" on MBTV77, our government access cable TV station. "CityVision" is a 30-minute video magazine show produced by the Office of Communications specifically to illustrate the City's progress in meeting the goals of our strategic plan, and to provide information to our residents on current events, programs and services that affect them. The April/May 2010 edition of "CityVision" features the following newsworthy stories: • The City's efforts to make sure Super Bowl week was a success; • A report on the City's new Intersection Safety Program and details on how the red light cameras work; • A look inside the big improvements happening at both our public golf courses; • A report on the City's past and present efforts to embrace diversity in our community; and, • Details on the future expansion of the Miami Beach Convention Center. Other stories covered include the ceremony to honor Assistant Planning Director William Cary for his historic preservation efforts; the Miami Beach firefighters who volunteered their personal time in earthquake-ravaged Haiti; details on the City's efforts to save residents money on flood insurance; the second annual Miami Beach Women's Conference; and the opening of the renovated Villa Maria housing complex. This edition was shot on the beautiful new plaza at 1111 Lincoln Road. The new gateway to Lincoln Road was featured throughout the program; and Public Works Director Fred Beckmann was interviewed about the success of the public/private partnership.
