SUBJECT: City of Miami Beach to Receive Preservation Awards
The purpose of this memorandum is to advise the Mayor and City Commission that the
City of Miami Beach has been selected by Dade Heritage Trust, the County's oldest
preservation organization, to receive two Preservation Awards which will be presented at
their Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards Ceremony on April 28, 2010.
The first award will be presented to the City's Office of Capital Improvements for the
historic 1939 Beach Patrol Headquarters at 10`h Street as an Outstanding
Restoration Project. In addition, Dade Heritage Trust's Board of Directors has voted to
honor the City of Miami Beach Planning Department with an Outstanding Organization
Award for the Designation of the Morris Lapidus /Mid 20"' Century Historic
District, that includes the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc Hotels.
These prestigious awards will be presented at the Dade Heritage Trust Annual
Meeting and Preservation Awards Ceremony on Wednesday April 28 2010 7'00
p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Ancient Spanish Monastery St Bernard De Clairvaux
