The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (LTC) is to provide you with information on the Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT) Roadway Enhancement Project on Collins Avenue from 63~d
Street to 75t" Street.-The project work plan consists of the following: widening the east side of the
road just north of 63 Street; rebuilding sections of roadway throughout the corridor; installing curb
and gutter; replacing sidewalks and installing pedestrian ramps; repaving and restriping the road;
installing decorafiive patterned pavement at crosswalks; replacing various signs and pedestrian
signals; and adding landscaping. (see Attachment 1, FDOT Project Fact Sheet). The estimated cosf
of the project is $998,939.
The construction work is scheduled to begin on August 9,.2010 and will be completed by January
2011. Please note that bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances could impact this schedule.
Intermittent lane closures along Collins Avenue will. occur during non-event days and weekends,
Sunday through Satlarday, during daytime hours (9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
Please be advised that during these improvements; at least one lane will remain open and access to
local residences,. businesses and bus stops will be maintained at all, times. These improvements will
also require the restriction of on-street parking at various times and locations. Pedestrian access
will be maintained on one side of the road at all times..
FDOT will coordinate closely with the City as well as local businesses and residences. FDOT has
scheduled a public meeting on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the
Ronald W. Shane Center, 6500 Indian Creek Drive, Miami Beach. Today, FDOT will be conducting
door-to-door outreach to impacted .residents and businesses distributing flyers announcing the
public meeting and providing information on the project. FDOT wilt continue to meet with residents
_and. businesses as needed and when requested.

Project Overview
On Monday, August 9, the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a Roadway
Project along Collins Avenue/State Road (S.R.) A1A from
63 Street to 75 Street.
This project includes:
• Widening the road just north of 63 Street
• Rebuilding sections of the roadway
• Jnstalling curb and gutter

This project will last about five months and cosf an
estimated $998,939.
Traffic Flow
To complete this work safely, it will be necessary to close .
..traffic lanes and sidewalks at times. Tasks will be done in
stages to minimize the effects on the community.
At least one lane will be open at all times. Bus stops will not
be affected.
Please note that this schedule may change due to bad
weather or other unexpected conditions.

la Florida (FDOT) tiene programado comenzar un Proyecto de
Carretera a to largo de la Avenida Collins/Carretera Estatal
(S.R.) A1A desde la Calle 63 pasta la Calle 75.
Este proyecto incluye:
• Ampliar la carretera hacia el norte de la Calle 63
• Reconstruir secciones de la carretera a
• Instalar bordes y cunetas
• Repavimentar y aplicar de nuevo las franjas en la '
. carretera
• Remplazar aceras y rampas de peatones
• Instalar pavimento decorativo en los cruces de peatones,
• Remplazar algunos letreros y senates de peatones
• Ariadir areas verdes
EI proyecto durara alrededor de cinco meses y su costo esta
estimado en aproximadamente $998,939..
Circulation Vehicular
Para completar este trabajo con seguridad, sera necesario
cerrar carriles de trafico y aceras en ciertos momentos. EI
trabajo sera construido en etapas para disminuir los efectos
de la construction en la comunidad.
Siempre se mantendra al menos un carril abierto. Las
paradas de autobuses no reran afectadas.
