Gonzalez DATE: January 3, 2011 SUBJECT: Existing Vacancies on City's De — I pment Review Boards As you .may be aware, the City has a number of vacancies and /or term expirations on the Board of Adjustment (BOA), the Planning Board (PB), the Historic Preservation Board (HPB), and the Design Review Board (DRB). The vacant categories of these boards are indicated hereto: Board of Adjustment 1. Citizen at- large. This position is currently held by Mr. Andrew Resnick. Mr. Resnick is eligible for re- appointment. t 2. Law. This position is currently held by Mr. David Lancz. Mr. Lancz is termed limited and is not eligible to be re- appointed. 3. Real Estate Development. This position is currently held by Mr. Brian Ehrlich. Mr. Ehrlich is eligible for re- appointment. Planning Board 1. One (1) position from the following possible categories: a. a person with experience in general business b. a person with experience in land development practices c. a person with experience in land use issues This position is currently held by Mr. Randy 'Weisburd. Mr. Weisburd is eligible for re- appointment. 2. A registered architect or a member of the faculty of a school of architecture in the state, with practical or academic expertise in the field of design, planning, historic preservation or the history of architecture, or a professional architectural designer or professional urban planner. This position is currently held by Mr. Jorge Kuperman. Mr. Kuperman is termed limited and is not eligible to be re- appointed. LTC — Development Review Board Appointments Date: January 3, 2011 Pager 2 of 3 3. A person' who has, education and /or experience in historic preservation issues. For purposes of this membership category, the term "education and /or experience in historic preservation issues" shall be a person who meets one or more of the following criteria: (1) Has earned a college degree in historic preservation; (2) Is responsible for the preservation, revitalization or adaptive reuse of historic buildings; or (3) -Is recognized by the city commission for contributions to historic preservation, education or planning. This position is currently held by Mr. Daniel Veitia. Mr. Veitia is eligible for re- appointment. Historic Preservation Board 1. A representative from the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), selected from three names nominated by such organization. This position is currently held by Mr. Herb Sosa. Mr. Sosa is eligible to be re- appointed. 2. A representative from Dade Heritage Trust (DHT), selected from three names - nominated by such organization. This position is currently held by Ms. Erika Brigham. Although Ms. Brigham is eligible to be re- appointed, she has indicated that she does not seek to be re- appointed. 3. One at -large member who owns or manages a property or properties located in one of the city's historic districts, and who has demonstrated interest and knowledge in urban design and the preservation of historic buildings. This position is currently held by Mr. Simon Nemni. Mr. Nemni is eligible to be re- appointed. 4. One at -large member who resides in one of the city's historic districts, and who has demonstrated interest and knowledge in. urban design and the preservation of historic buildings. This position is currently held by Ms. Josephine Manning. Ms. Manning is eligible to be re- appointed. Design Review Board 1. Registered Architect. This position is currently held by Mr. Thomas Deluca. Mr. Deluca is eligible for re- appointment, but is term limited at the end of 2011. 2. Citizen at Large. This position is currently held by Ms. Clotilde Luce. Ms. Luce is term limited and is not eligible to be re- appointed: 1 A Registered Architect, Professional Designer or Professional Urban Planner. This position is currently held by Ms. Lilia Medina, in the capacity of Professional Urban Planner. Ms. Medina is eligible to be re- appointed. 4. One (1) position from the following possible categories a. a Registered Architect b. a member of the faculty of a school of architecture, urban planning or urban design in the state, with practical or academic expertise in the field of design, planning, historic preservation or the history of architecture c. a Professional Architectural Designer d. a Professional Urban Planner LTC - Development Review Board Appointments Date: January 3, 2011 Page: 3 of 3 This position is currently held by Mr. Alex David, in the capacity of a Professional Urban Planner. Although Mr. David's term expires on December 31, 2011, he became term limited on December 31, 2010 and can no longer serve on the Board. In order to maintain quorums, the members of the boards whose terms have expired can be held over for a period not to' exceed 60 days from December 31, 2010. Consequently, the need for members. is very pressing for all of the City's Development Review Boards, as some will not be able to field quorums after their February meetings if no new appointments or re- appointments are made.
