It was revealed that the 2 barrier walls, which were built to prevent Hurricane flood waters from entering the tunnel, are temporary. These walls will be removed after the completion of the tunnel. The tunnel entrance will have a gate that is supposed to sealthe- tunnel in case of a hurricane; there will also be pumps. Presently, the Transportation & Parking Committee has not been provided with clear drawings of the gate or back -up generators for the pumps. It was also stated that engineering plans for the tunnel are around 60% complete. Sincerely, Transportation and Parking Committee
