LTC 145-2011 Motions by Parks and Recreational e "q V OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER NO. LTC # 145 -2011 L E TW 08 &09 10 N i CITY W, L i_. 1 ,. : I d 4 TO: Mayor Matti Herrera Bower and Members of the City Commission FROM: Jorge M. Gonzalez, City Manager DATE: June 10, 2011 SUBJECT: Motions by the Parks and Recreational Facilities. Board The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to advise you of two motions made and unanimously approved by the Parks and Recreational Facilities Board on June 1, 2011. MOTION # 1 The Parks & Recreational Facilities Board requests that the City re- distribute funds - currently allocated in the Flamingo Park Master Plan, to fund the currently unfunded restrooms at Flamingo Park that are located by the Softball Field (Friendship Corner)., This motion was approved unanimously. MOTION # 2 The Parks & Recreational Facilities Board requests the City Administration to evaluate reallocating the funds that are currently allocated to the construction of new restrooms servicing the racquetball and basketball courts, to the renovation of the existing softball field restrooms or brand new construction and /or in conjunction, consider relocating the new funded restrooms to the west, to service the two sites (racquetball /basketball courts and softball field), with preference to only build or renovate one set of bathrooms and place in between the two sites to service both. This motion , was approved unanimously. As background, the current Flamingo Park Master Plan has a new set of bathrooms, currently funded for construction to the west of the racquetball courts to service the basketball and racquetball courts. The currently existing bathrooms, adjacent to the softball field, are in poor condition, and funding has not been earmarked to refurbish or re- construct it. The Board believes that the bathrooms are not too far away from each other and one set of bathrooms, strategically located in between both sites, may function as well and service both sites without reduction in service levels.
