Gonzalez, City Manager } DATE: July6, 2011 SUBJECT: Status Update — South Pointe Par7PIaground Installation i The purpose; of this Letter to Commission is to provide you with a status update on the pending South Pointe Park Playground installation. n internal benchmark/ oal of Memorial Da Although. wef had seta g y to have the new playground installed, unfortunately there was a substantial delay in obtaining the Florida PEP permit for the installation of the shade structure. This impacted the project schedule significantly. We are pleased to report that this permit, and all others necessary for the project, haveibeen issued and the project is moving forward. ; As of today the following work has been completed; • The concrete sub -base has been removed, • The benches, trees and colored concrete "amoebas" have been relocated to other areas of the park; • The playground has been installed (see attached photographs); • —The shade system has been ordered and is being manufactured; • The safety surfacing has been ordered. Additionally, the following is the anticipated schedule for completion, weather permitting; • Shad.e system installation will be completed by July 15, 2011. • The p -in -place safety surfacing installation will be completed by July 22, 2011. I Assuming no unforeseen conditions or inclement weather, the new South Pointe Park playground with the shade system will be completed and open to the general public by the end of July, possibly as soon as the weekend of July 23rd.
