SUBJECT: Construction Commencement for Biscayne Point Right of Way (ROW) Improvement
Project
The purpose of this LTC (Letter to Commission) is to inform you that the second Notice to Proceed (NTP -
2) was issued on August 23, 2011, and the official construction commenced on August 24, 2011.
In addition, a construction kick -off meeting with the project team was held today, August 26, 2011.
The preliminary schedule submitted by DMSI indicates the construction will commence with the installation
of the water main lines on Biscayne Point Island and Stillwater Drive. The construction crews will move from
west to east within these two (2) locations.
At the same time, DMSI will also begin the replacement of the street lights on Biscayne Beach, moving from
south to north. The improvements to the water main and stormwater drainage will then follow in Biscayne
Beach. The scope of work will also include irrigation, landscaping, intersection bulb outs and ADA
upgrades. The project will be completed with paving, grading and striping of the roadways throughout the
neighborhood.
CIP Staff continues to maintain contact with the HOA leadership in the three (3) sub - neighborhoods. The
Public Information Specialists and the contractor's Public Information Officer (P10) are working all
communication aspects of the project directly with the HOA's and have also notified the residents of
commencement of work.
The Communication Team will continue to provide weekly updates and construction alerts throughout the
course of the project. The PIO has a constant presence in the neighborhood and is the point of contact for
all resident concerns and input.
The Biscayne Point Neighborhood project is anticipated to be complete in the late fall of 2012.
