SUBJECT: 24th Annual Children's Fire Safety F str al.
The purpose of this LTC is to inform the Commission that this year the Miami Beach Fire
Department will be hosting the 24 Annual Children's Fire Safety Festival sponsored by the
Fire Officers Association of Miami -Dade (FOAMD).
BACKGROUND
This weeklong Safety Festival gives 2,500 Kindergarten through third grade students from
public and private schools in Miami -Dade County the opportunity to "LEARN NOT TO
BURN" in four interactive learning stations.. The stations are sponsored by fire and life safety
educators from the Miami Beach, Miami, Miami -Dade County, Coral Gables, Hialeah Key
Biscayne, and the Homestead Air Reserve Base Fire Rescue Departments in conjunction
with the University of Miami / Jackson , Memorial Burn Center.
This year's 24 Annual Children's Fire Safety Festival is scheduled for October 24 -28, 2011
held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall A First Floor, meeting rooms A101 —A107
would like to cordially invite you to join us for a . short opening ceremony on Monday,
October 24 2011 at 9:30 am as we will recognize National- Fire Prevention Month and
honor the presenters and participants in the 2011 Children's Fire Safety Festival.
