Fernandez Rundle Regarding the Miami. Beach Athletic League
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to share with you a letter I sent to
State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle regarding the Miami Beach Police Athletic .
League (PAL).
As you may know, her office already reviewed the Internal Affairs Report and' issued a
close out memo dated September 3, 2010. In light of Mr. Steve Cohen's continued
allegations of wrongdoing at the Miami Beach PAL, I have asked the-State Attorney to
review the information I have provided her and proceed with any actions she deems •
appropriate.
I have provided copies of the internal audit to review the Miami Beach PAL's operation
as it relates to the City of Miami Beach, the Internal Affairs Report relating to the
investigation of the. Miami Beach PAL Board of Directors, which were conducted at my
request, as well as copies of emails sent by Mr. Steve Cohen.

Dear Ms. Fernandez .Rundle:
For the past couple of years, Steve Cohen, resident and former Miami Beach Police Athletic
League (PAL) Board :Member., has made allegations of improprieties at the Miami Beach
PAL by the former Executive.Director and `.Executive Board members.
As .a - result,, an internal audit to review the Miami .Beach 'PAL's operation as .it relates to the
City of Miami Beach, as well as an .Internal }Affairs _investigation of the Miami Beach PAL
Board of - Directors were conducted at my request. My -understanding 'is that the Internal
Affairs report was shared with your office.
Notwithstanding these - steps -and the _resulting personnel . °and operational .changes at the
Miami 'Beach .PAL, 'Mr. Cohen appears - to still - not be satisfied and continues to -allege
wrongdoing at the, Miami 'Beach .PAL.
I am attaching copies -of the internal audit report, Internal Affairs report, State Attorney Close
Out Memo and a CD with emails received :.from Mr. Cohen since 2009 to the present relative
to :the Miami :Beach - PAL:
1 would like to request that .your .office please review the attached information and proceed
with any actions you see fit -as the State .Attorney. In addition, please advise what, actions, if
any, I should undertake at this juncture'.
Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
