SUBJECT: Volunteer Events in Conjunction with Temple Beth Shalom's Mitzvah Day
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to advise you that the Community
Outreach Team has scheduled a volunteer event for Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 9:30
a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in conjunction with Temple Beth Shalom's Mitzvah Day. Mitzvah Day
offers citizens an opportunity to do a good deed by volunteering to give back to the
community.
Volunteers from the Miami Beach community will remove litter and debris from Pine Tree
Park and along the banks of Indian Creek. There will be approximately 40 volunteers. The
City of Miami Beach Parks Department and Public Works Department Sanitation Division will
provide support in the form of tools and equipment and removal of garbage bags. The
Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach (ECOMB) will provide supervision on the day of the
event and volunteers will submit waivers through that organization for participation in the
activities.
The City of Miami Beach continues to reach out to form partnerships in the effort to improve
the quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors.
