SUBJECT: MiaGreen Expo & Conference / Miami Beach Sustainable Initiatives
This Letter to Commission is provided to inform you of the City's participation at the MiaGreen
Conference & Expo this year, in our efforts to promote the City's sustainable initiatives.
This year's MiaGreen Expo & Conference will be held on January 26 and 27 from 8:30 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The City will be showcasing new sustainable
initiatives on how we live, work and play in our "green" community in our booth ( #719). Since
2009, with the support of the Sustainability Committee, Miami Beach has participated in the
MiaGreen Expo & Conference.
This year, we will have a major presence at the expo hosting a special Miami Beach pavilion on
the show floor that will highlight some of the city's "green" initiatives. Community partners have
joined us to showcase the following green initiatives: Hertz On Demand car - sharing program,
Car Charging electric vehicle charging stations, reversible Coca -Cola recycling machine,
DecoBike, Ameresco's energy saving initiatives, beach recycling, Adopt -a -Beach Program, and
an example of sustainability efforts in our hospitality industry from the Greater Miami and
Beach's Hotel Association and our local hotels, including the Palms Hotel, Shore Club, Dream
Hotel and Cambean Hotels. Members of our Sustainability Committee will be assisting us during
the conference.
We would also like to invite you to attend a press conference on Thursday, January 26 at 11:00
a.m. at the Convention Center, on the show floor in Hall B, where we will proudly announce
some of the City's new upcoming sustainable initiatives.
