SUBJECT: MISS USA@ Pageant Update
The Letter to Commission (LTC) is intended to provide you with an update on the status
of the MISS USA@ Pageant negotiations.
Following the December 27, 2011, Finance and Citywide Projects Committee, staff,
along with ACT Productions, the Green Agency, the Greater Miami Convention Center
and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) and Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority
(MBVCA) continued negotiations with the Miss Universe Organization regarding hosting
the MISS USA@ and MISS TEEN USA@ competitions.
Despite lengthy negotiations with the Miss Universe Organization, an agreement could
not be reached by all parties. The Miss Universe Organization has decided to return to
Las Vegas for 2012. However, the City, its partners and the Miss Universe Organization
have all expressed interest in continuing negotiations in an effort to host the event in
2013. An update will be provided to you in the future as new developments present
themselves.
