SUBJECT: Parks & Recreation Receives 3 Community Recognitions
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform you that the Parks and Recreation
Department has been recognized by three organizations for their hard work, dedication and
commitment to the community.
1. The Community Committee for Developmental Handicaps (CCDH) and its All Children
Together Program (ACT) has recognized the City of Miami Beach Parks & Recreation
Department with the "Inclusion in ACTion Award ". The award will be presented on
Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens at 10 am and
recognizes our Parks and Recreation's Inclusion in Recreation program, which
demonstrates the City's commitment to enable children with disabilities to participate in
regularly scheduled recreational activities
2. The City of North Miami has also recognized the City's Parks and Recreation Department's
Teen Club for its recent community cleanup held on December 3 Jean R. Marcellus,
Councilman — District 3 gave thanks to the Teen Club for this cleanup project, which
demonstrated an improvement in the North Miami community... "while contributing to
preserving the environment"
3. The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) has selected the City of Miami Beach
for their "Outstanding Community Service Award" to be presented at their award reception
on April 18, 2012, for our Surf Camp program for children with autism.
