SUBJECT: Convention Center Advisory Board Motion
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to transmit to you two motions passed by the
Convention Center Advisory Board during a special meeeting held on February 28, 2012 to
discuss the Convention Center Project. The following two (2) motions pertaining to the
Expansion and Enhancement of the Miami Beach Convention Center were approved by a
vote of all of the six (6) members present.
1. Motion recommending the increase of the Miami Beach Resort Tax on hotel rooms
by one (1) additional penny to support the enhancement and expansion of the
Miami Beach Convention Center; and
2. Motion recommending that the voter referendum required to approve an increase of
the Miami Beach Resort Tax on hotel rooms be placed on the August 14, 2012
Primary Election.
