SUBJECT: Stormwater Master Plan and Sea Level Rise
At the June 28, 2012 Finance and Citywide Projects Committee the New Citywide Stormwater
Management Master Plan was presented and discussed for approval by the Committee. At the
meeting, several technical issues were raised that due to time constraints could not be
addressed at the meeting; therefore, the Committee recommended that the item be brought
back to the August Finance and Citywide Projects Committee Meeting and that a special
meeting be set up for the public to discuss technical issues regarding sea level rise with the
Stormwater Master Plan.
A public meeting has been scheduled to take place this Friday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Third Floor Training Room, 1755 Meridian Avenue. At this meeting, the City's consultant, CDM
Smith, will present a summary of their finding and recommendations, its sub-consultant, Coastal
Systems International, who developed the appendix on sea level rise, climate change and tidal
boundary conditions will also present their findings and recommendations, and the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, who has developed policy and guidance for incorporating sea level rise in
Civil Works Projects will discuss their approach to seal level rise. After the presentation, the
meeting will be open to the public for questions and answers and general discussion.
