SUBJECT: National Center for Health Statistics — National Health and Nutrition Examination
Survey
The purpose of this Letter to the City Commission (LTC) is to advise the City Commission that
the City has been contacted by the National Center for Health Statistics and advised that Miami-
Dade County has been selected as one of the survey locations during the current National
Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The survey being conducted by the
National Center for Health Statistic will be used to gather information to assess the health and
nutrition status of children and adults, to determine the prevalence of major disease and risk
factors for diseases.
The survey will be conducted within Miami -Dade County from October 26, 2012 through
January 21, 2013. A sample of approximately 516 people from Miami -Dade County will be
asked to participate in the survey. Attached, please find a fact sheet provided by the National
Center for Health Statistics that provides information regarding the Study. Should you require
