SUBJECT: FPL HOME ENERGY MAKEOVER INITIATIVES
This Letter to Commission is provided to invite you to a Florida Power & Light Company (FPL)
Home Energy Makeover Initiative in Miami Beach.
FPL has committed to undertake with the City's support a number of conservation, sustainability
and educational projects. The aim of the Home Energy Makeover Initiative is to help the City,
its residents, and.the larger community achieve a better understanding of the value and benefits
of water and energy conservation measures.
On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., FPL consultants and City
employee volunteers will work with the Miami Beach Community Development Corporation to
complete a home energy makeover at 542 Jefferson Avenue and 532 Michigan Avenue.
Residents in these buildings will receive a range of water and energy conservation upgrades
including installation of water - saving showerheads and faucets, refrigerator and freezer
thermometers, compact fluorescent lighting, weather stripping and-many other energy and water
conservation measures. These upgrades can save families as much as 25 percent a year on
their electric bill.
Most of these energy- efficiency upgrades can be adopted by any FPL customer looking to make
smarter and .cleaner energy choices. Customers can learn about the improvements that will be
installed during Home Energy Makeovers by visiting the Energy Savings Toolkit section at
www.FPL.com /ohes and taking a free, online Home Energy Survey.
This is a great opportunity to help the community through encouraging energy and water
conservation initiatives and demonstrating the City's on -going partnership with FPL. Please
