Subject: 'FY 2012/13 Quarter 1 Status Report on Independent Contractor Agreements'
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to provide a status of the Independent
Contractor Agreements executed pursuant to ' Resolution 2012 -28019 (copy attached);
adopted by the City Commission on September 27, 2012:" As part of the discussion
regarding this item, the City, Commission, requested for.'the' Administration to provide a .
.quarterly report of Agreements executed pursuant to the authorization granted under
this resolution.
Under the City Charter, the City Manager has the authority to appoint an employee into a -
vacant budgeted position with a salary at the beginning -or within the pay range ,
established by the City Commission for that classification.
Resolution 2012 -28019 authorized the City Manager to -enter into certain Independent
Contractor Agreements for professional and other services to provide services and /or
work related to vacant budgeted positions, fora fee not to exceed the maximum of the
pay range for the respective classification.
Since the adoption of the Resolution on 'September 27, 2012, the City has entered into
only one (1) agreement pursuant to this authority., An Agreement with Ms. •Mariu
Emmons, for services related to marketing and, advertising in the Office of
Communications.' A Development Coordinator position remained vacant to fund this
Agreement... Following the execution of this' Agreement, the. City recruited for this
position, which has now been filled. The services of Ms. Emmons are no longer being
utilized..
The second,' quarterly update, on Independent Contractor Agreements will be provided in
mid -April 2013.
