C: Executive Staff Dr. Leslie Rosenfeld, Organizational Development JLM KGB L6!V i F City of Miami Beach Committee for Quality Education Meeting of May 28, 2013 Members Present: Ivette Borrello, Karen Rivo, Kay Coulter, Lisa Simon, Sheila Duffy — Lehrman, Sofia Emuriel, Beverly Heller, Keren Bajaroff, Heidi Tandy, Elisa Leone, Becky Cohen, and Ivette Birba Members Absent: Jill Swartz and Tiffany Heckler Motion made by Beverly Heller Motion seconded by Karen Rivo Motion Text: The Committee for Quality Education requests the Mayor and Commission support the request that the Nautilus Middle School Safe Routes to School Application for the City of Miami Beach include Nautilus Middle School, North Beach Elementary, and Miami Beach Senior High School for the 2013 14 school year. The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above request. Motion Passage: Votes 13 -0 Motion made by Beverly Heller Motion seconded by Karen Rivo Motion Text: The Committee for Quality Education thanks the Mayor and Commission for, the support of the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) with safety issues on 41" Street and request the MBPD continue to support the opening of schools in August 2013 for all Miami Beach Public Schools. Additionally, the committee requests the City continue to work with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to find a permanent solution to the ongoing safety issues on 41 Street and Jefferson Avenue. The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above request. Motion Passage: Votes 13 -0
