SUBJECT: Miami Beach Convention Center Enhancement & Expansion - Next Steps
The purpose of this LTC is to provide information for the next steps in the approval and
execution of the Convention Center project.
Staff and South Beach ACE ( "SBACE ") have been in contact and have begun to coordinate with
the City for the following:
• A fully updated Letter of Intent ( "LOI ") incorporating the terms from the May 3, 2013 LOI,
revisions from the July 5, 2013 revised proposal, and incorporation of the 16 additional key
business terms itemized in the Commission memorandum of July 17, 2013.
• Informational materials for Miami -Dade County ("County ") meetings: Working together, the
City and SBACE will create packages .for anticipated meetings between City and County
officials.
• Transportation and Parking Committee Presentation (TPC): SBACE will present the Traffic
plan to the Transportation and Parking Committee.
Meetings with County staff: City staff will be meeting with the County to coordinate for all
necessary approvals.
Requests for Qualifications ( "RFQ's "): Staff will also be preparing the following for upcoming
Commission Meetings:
• RFQ for Owner's Representative
• RFQ for Constructability Consultant
Planning Approvals: Staff will be preparing applications and, public hearings for the following:
• Planning Board amendments to the Land Development Regulations ( "LDR ").
•. Planning Board and City Commission public hearing on LDR amendments.
• Planning Board and City Commission approval of public land leases.
• City Commission approval of the Development Agreement.
November Election: Staff will be preparing the following:
• Voter's guide material for November election ballot questions. .
Periodic updates of the process will be provided as part of the regular Commission agenda or
on an as- needed basis through subsequent LTC's.
