The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to notify you that the Miami -Dade County Homeless
Trust will be recognizing the work of our City's Homeless Outreach Team at its 2013 Homeless
Awareness Day Breakfast on November 14' at 8am at the Chapman Conference Center, Miami
Dade College, Wolfson Campus. The Conference Center is located at 300 NE Second Avenue,
Building 3 in Miami.
According to the Homeless Trust, "On any given day, (these) professionals comb the streets in often
dangerous situations to assist people experiencing Homelessness. These men and women save
lives and change futures." Our Outreach Team is responsible for engaging homeless persons,
assessing their needs and providing them with shelter and /or family reunification services. Last year,
the Team:
• Reunited 83 people with family and friends
• Completed 5,268 contacts (encounters)
• Provided 628 shelter placements -
• Conducted 36 presentations to the public o
